The Role

The Sustainability Consultant will identify ESG issues, conduct gap analyses, and develop and implement strategies to improve Lincoln’s sustainability practices - incorporating market trends, investor requirements, and employee expectations

Responsibilities

Benchmarking/Best Practices

  • Keep abreast of ESG trends and advise business leaders about sustainability trends that will impact their business.
  • Track and monitor marketplace, industry and sector specific trends related to environmental, social and governance issues  
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder engagement
  • Prepare presentations for Sr. Management and the Board.

Data Management

  • Facilitate and manage ESG data collection across all Lincoln locations 
  • Analyze, interpret and develop reports aligned with standard reporting frameworks such as the GHG Protocol
  • Manage third party auditing process

Reporting

  • Manage all aspects of public sustainability reporting, investor survey responses and other stakeholder communications such as ISS, MSCI, Dow Jones, FTSE4Good, and CDP 
  • Assess requests for information from 3rd party stakeholders; coordinate responses
  • Support the development of the annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report
  • Prepare reports and quarterly presentations for senior leadership and board committees on sustainability
  • Present information and updates to business units on relevant market trends, opportunities, and best practices
  • Lead company sustainability activities such as Earth Week
  • Work with business sustainability teams on effective strategies to increase employee  commitment and participation in sutainability initiatives 
  • Track performance against goals

Strategy Development

  • Develop process to identify and prioritize ESG issues for the company; develop project plans based on this assessment
  • Identify and assess ESG risks and integrate ESG issues into the enterprise risk management process
  • Identify opportunities and implement processes to integrate ESG into investment management process
  • Develop internal and external goals including environmental targets to ensure continuous improvement of sustainable business practices 

Requirements

Education

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)

Experience

  • 3 - 5+ Years of experience sustainability, preferably within the financial sector
  • Strong Communication skills are required
  • Ability to self-direct and multi-task
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; experience communicating with senior corporate executives
  • Easily adaptable to change
  • Experience in developing sustainability reports
  • Experience responding to requests from DJSI, Sustainalytics, and CDP; Familiarity with SASB and TCFD, a plus
  • Fundamental understanding of institutional investments and/or life insurance is a plus
  • Experience with GHG accounting preferred #LI-CG1
