The Role at a Glance
The VP, Distribution Strategy & Enablement serves as the principal operating partner to the distribution organization translating distribution strategy into operating model decisions, enterprise execution priorities, performance management routines, and enabling capabilities that allow market-facing teams to focus on customers and brokers. The leader provides a single point of accountability for the distribution organization’s non-market-facing work, including strategic planning, enterprise partner coordination and performance reporting.
What you'll be doing
Strategic Leadership & Business Planning
- Maintains knowledge of current and emerging trends and collaborates with senior leadership to incorporate them into future strategies.
- Contributes to business unit, operational, and enterprise strategy creation.
- Leads the development of the division distribution organization’s annual and multi-year strategic plan in partnership with the Chief Distribution Officer.
- Translates distribution strategy into operating model decisions that improve clarity, connectivity, and execution across the organization.
- Provides thought leadership and functional expertise to internal and external stakeholders.
Operational Excellence & Performance Management
- Leads identification, development, and implementation of strategic process improvements that reduce workload and improve quality.
- Establishes priorities, performance goals, and objectives to achieve business results.
- Guides and evaluates departmental performance and takes action to meet or exceed performance standards.
- Owns the distribution performance management system, including KPI governance, dashboards, reporting, and executive insights.
- Establishes governance routines, decision forums, and operating mechanisms to monitor priorities, risks, dependencies, and progress.
- Identifies and reduces internal complexity through process improvement, role clarity, and cross-functional coordination.
Transformation, Change & Technology Enablement
- Leads and enhances organizational initiatives through change management and enterprise transformation efforts.
- Acts as business owner for the distribution technology ecosystem, including CRM, portals, service tools, and analytics platforms.
- Drives execution of major transformation initiatives, including operating model redesign, compensation redesign, governance, and talent assessment efforts.
- Ensures technology and operational capabilities are aligned with business objectives and enable organizational effectiveness.
- Directly leads strategic planning teams and capability-building functions, including training and development programs.
- Partners with HR and the Chief Distribution Officer on organization design, competency models, career paths, workforce planning, and headcount modeling.
Enterprise Partnership & Stakeholder Management
- Serves as the primary relationship owner with key enterprise partners including Finance, IT, HR, Legal, Compliance, and Reporting & Analytics.
- Collaborates across functions to align priorities, operating decisions, and execution plans with business objectives.
- Builds strong partnerships to support strategy execution, cross-functional alignment, and organizational success.
What we’re looking for
Education
- 4 Year/Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience (4 yrs of experience in lieu of Bachelors)
Experience
- 12+ Years years of progressive experience in financial services, insurance, or employee benefits, with a minimum of 5 years in roles with significant
- operating model, strategy, or distribution leadership scope. (Required)
- A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
- Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions
- Drives performance targets to completion

The pay range for this position is $161,000 - $292,800 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
