The Role at a Glance

This position will provide highly specialized expertise and thought leadership to strategically achieve key business objectives for their assigned area(s). Contributes to market/risk strategies and leads the development and implementation of highly complex quantitative market/risk tools and analytics for assigned areas of responsibility, such as credit, hedging, and market risk.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with executive/senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
  • Leads the identification, development, and implementation of strategic process improvements that improve quality across the team, business unit, and/or the organization for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Leads and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides highly specialized expertise and thought leadership to internal/external stakeholders for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Contributes to business unit/operational and enterprise strategy creation for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Builds organizational capability within their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Leads/executes approved strategy for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides highly specialized expertise with respect to quantitative market/investment/risk management analytics to contribute to market/investment/risk strategies
  • Effectively influences senior/executive leaders and other key stakeholders in advocating investment/financial system vision, architecture, and strategies.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates strategic existing/future quantitative market/investment models and tools to measure current positions and forecasting of future positions.
  • Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of statistical and econometric based equity models, interest rate models, credit risk models as needed to manage and monitor portfolio risks, returns and volatility.
  • Develops and oversees processes for regularly stress testing portfolios and reporting results to management.
  • Develops and directs the enhancement of existing tools and/or new solutions for analyzing portfolio risk, performance evaluation and attribution analysis
  • Serves as a functional expert and partners with key business stakeholders on technical design risk management issues including ensuring that all parties understand the significant capabilities, risk and/or system limitation(s).
  • Leads research in alternate/emerging approaches to hedge market risks, including semi-static/static hedging strategies and makes recommendations for new strategies/changes to hedge risk.
  • Identifies and recommends derivative instruments and hedging/risk management mechanisms that would enhance existing strategies.
  • Analyzes and makes recommendations for enhancement of the various systems utilized in analyzing market risks within their assigned area(s).
  • Prepares and reports on analytical findings and recommendations to senior/executive management, various Lincoln market/investment/risk committees, and/or Board of Directors.
  • Creates and distributes complex technical documents, presentations, and communications (memos, fact sheets, collateral materials) pertaining to risk/exposure and performance attribution to a wide range technical and non-technical audiences.
     

What we’re looking for

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) (Minimum Required)
  • 12+ Years of progressive experience in derivatives, trading modeling, or risk management of derivative portfolios directly related to the specific responsibilities of this position. (Required)
  • Progressive experience and professional understanding of inner workings of annuity products and life insurance.
  • Ability to effectively resolve difficult disputes and business challenges using highly refined functional, partnering and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies and business plans to deliver and exceed expected business objectives and results.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement process improvements.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior/executive management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Finds common ground and can gain collaboration among senior/executive management, colleagues and peers; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Understands the interdependencies of how people and organizations function, and can negotiate through complex political situations effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience as a thought leader. Will be able to demonstrate being sought after for advice, counsel, and judgment.
  • FSA, CFA, FRM, CQF, CERA, or other similar designations are a plus.

Pay Range: $145,700 - $265,400 

 

Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
