The Role at a Glance
This position is responsible for evaluating and prioritizing strategic technology initiatives and effectively influencing leadership and key internal stakeholders to drive outcome-focused delivery in alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives. They will also provide thought leadership and oversight to ensure the portfolio remains relevant and competitive and balances demand with capacity.
What you'll be doing
- Leads the collaboration of senior management and key internal stakeholders to strategically develop and prioritize the project pipeline of technology initiatives based on strategic importance.
- Provides thought leadership and advises key stakeholders on portfolio management strategies to ensure technology projects, programs, and products are aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Develops processes and operating procedures for prioritizing IT initiatives based on the organization’s strategic plan, budget and resource capacity.
- Communicates the status, value, and importance of technology initiatives to senior leadership.
- Leads regular portfolio reviews and status meetings with stakeholders.
- Leads the prioritization and re-prioritization process to ensure that all efforts are tied to current business requirements.
- Leads the development of risk mitigation and compliance strategies to ensure that the IT portfolio adheres to compliance requirements and relevant policies and regulations.
- Partners with IT Finance on financial planning and forecasting including on actual vs. forecasted spend, updated ROI, and total cost of ownership across the portfolio.
- Drives and directs the development of reporting processes to monitor, analyze, and communicate the performance of the IT portfolio.
- Anticipates and provides solutions to high complexity portfolio management issues or conflicts.
- Builds and maintains relationship both within IT and with Business Partners to understand and be able to respond to the changing needs of our business.
What we’re looking for
Must-haves:
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
- 12+ Years’ experience in IT program/portfolio management, PMO leadership, or IT strategy, including 5+ years of managerial, strategy and influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience.
Nice-to-haves:
- Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advocates effectively, readily command attention and respect in groups as demonstrated by people listening to and getting on board with initiative

The pay range for this position is $157,000 - $285,600 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
