The Role

 

The VP, Investor Relations, provides leadership and strategic planning for investor relations activities to broaden and increase shareholder value and enhance the company’s image with the investment community. S/he will interface between the investment community and the company, providing investor/market intelligence and counsel to senior executive management, while educating investors and analysts on the company’s business strategies and performance.  S/he will develop communications, presentations and activities directed to the global investment community.

  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with executive/senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
  • Leads the identification, development, and implementation of strategic process improvements that improve quality across the team, business unit, and/or the organization for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Leads and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides highly specialized expertise and thought leadership to internal/external stakeholders for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Contributes to business unit/operational and enterprise strategy creation for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Builds organizational capability within his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Leads/executes approved strategy for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Develops an overall strategic vision for the Investor Relations functional areas.
  • Establishes the Investor Relations organizational goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  • Ensures the Investor Relations department is meeting all objectives pertaining to quality, compliance, regulations, productivity, customer service, budget, and project management.
  • Ensures Investor Relations operational plans are aligned with Lincoln Financial Group’s (LFG) overall business plans and specific strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Ensures the effective implementation, integration, and execution of Investor Relations strategic and tactical plan initiatives.
  • Establishes and maintains processes to monitor and measure the effectiveness of the Company's investor relations efforts.
  • Develops appropriate messages for the investment community and ensures that communications are disseminated promptly, efficiently, and in accordance with all regulations.
  • Develops, maintains, and enhances relationships with investors and with institutions in the financial community that hold, or may hold, the company’s stock or debt.
  • Maintains and improves relations and communications between the company and the investing public, shareholders and financial professionals to enhance the standing of the company’s stock and debt ratings.
  • Monitors changes and trends in investment markets and determines appropriate responsive strategies.
  • Develops and disseminates reports and/or information enhancing the company’s image in the financial community.
  • Provides investor relations advice and feedback to senior executives and directs the management of investor relations issues as needed.
  • Develops a deep understanding of company’s businesses and operations, financial performance and strategies through fact-finding visits with key company executives, department heads, & to operating companies/divisions.
  • Develops investor kits, supporting collateral materials & other materials necessary for use with the investment community.  Assures that messages are consistent with company’s overall communications strategy.
  • Maintains the investor relations content for the website.
  • Plans, coordinates and leads investor road shows, analyst meetings, speakers’ events and annual shareholders meetings and direct rehearsals as needed.   Prepares senior management materials and briefings.
  • Provides communications input and counsel on SEC and other regulatory filings.  Ensures compliance with the company’s rules of financial disclosure.
  • Monitors competitor financial news and events and compiles quarterly results for senior leadership review. 

 

Requirements

 

Education

 

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)

 

Experience

 

  • 12+ Years of progressively more responsible experience in investor relations, financial communications, investment management, equity/fixed income research analysis, finance or related field that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position (Required)
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advocates effectively, readily command attention and respect in groups as demonstrated by people listening to and getting on board with initiatives for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior/executive management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
