What you'll be doing

•    Advises management on tax consequences of Merger and Acquisitions (M&A) transactions and identifies both short and long term solutions to effect the transaction.  Ensures the structure is consistent with the long term enterprise strategy.
•    Leads all Tax due diligence and integration support for Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) efforts including the assessment of deal structures, long-term business structure consistent with the LFG business strategy and the tax integration of acquired companies.
•    Contributes to business unit/operational and enterprise strategy creation for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•    Leads/executes approved strategy for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•    Leads, establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to achieve key business results for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•    Guides and evaluates departmental performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•    Leads and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•    Leads the identification, development, and implantation of strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, business unit, and/or the organization for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•    Provides thought leadership and functional expertise to internal/external stakeholders for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•    Builds organizational capability within his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•    Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility. 
•    Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
•    Serves as a key member of appropriate Lincoln Financial Group committees and working groups and participates in internal LFG tax forces or other project steering committees whether or not tax focused.
•    Conducts tax research and planning over multi-year scenarios.  Presents findings and recommendations and cost/benefit analysis to executive management.
•    Ensures the development of tax strategies related to the Company’s current business and any long term business initiatives.
•    Monitors change in tax law and works with the Company’s Public Policy Group to analyze legislative efforts, regulatory pronouncements (IRS, Treasury, state & foreign taxing authorities) and judicial developments, and evaluate the potential impact of such on the Company’s business.
•    Supports business strategies and initiatives by representing LFG at Federal, State, and Local regulatory bodies and at various industry associations and functions recognized as an industry Tax “thought leader”.
•    Builds organizational capability within the Tax function.
•    Ensures that top talent is hired and retained.
•    Provides training opportunities for Tax employees and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.

The Role at a Glance

This Vice President- Tax Mergers and Acquisitions position provides executive finance leadership and tax strategy to Lincoln Financial Group directly related to Tax Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) and Tax Capital Strategy functions.

What we’re looking for

•    4 Year/Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelors)
•    15+ years of of progressively more responsible experience in taxation, including at least 5 years of leading a tax function; or 19+ years of equivalent progressively more responsible work experience in taxation, including 5 years of leading a tax function.
•    Business experience within the life insurance and financial service industry.
•    MBA degree, Masters in Tax, or Advanced Degree preferred.
•    Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
•    5+ senior management experience in a large complex organization including influencing senior management and critical stakeholder responsibility

Pay Range: $169,701 - $306,200 

 

Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
