The Role at a Glance
The Lead Cloud Architect will work on the Enterprise Architecture Team focused on advancing Lincoln’s overall IT cloud and AI capabilities. Initially the focus will be on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with the goal of transforming the organization toward a multi-cloud model. In addition to Cloud Technologies, primarily AWS, this role will work closely with our AI teams to develop and implement Enterprise AI Solutions. The architect, reporting to the Head of Cloud Architecture, will work in a team setting of AI and Cloud technical resources with a goal of building a foundation (technology and process) for enabling the organization to execute using a cloud-first approach.
What you'll be doing
- Provides strategic direction on the development and delivery of the cloud migration execution roadmap.
- Assess and determines cloud hosting candidates in new project builds and existing application migrations and ensures application migrations realize the intended benefits.
- Partners with application development teams to drive product development for Cloud solutions and participates in proof of concept (POC) and implementation projects.
- Delivers patterns for AI and Cloud technical architectures and communicates successful cloud architectures to the enterprise.
- Contributes to and helps Maintain a catalog of cloud products and services and determines when a given service should be utilized.
- Collaborates with other IT teams and internal stakeholders to deliver best in class cloud solutions.
- Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
- Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects.
- Provides strategic direction to build and enhance the capability.
What we’re looking for
Must Haves:
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
- 10+ Years of experience in IT architecture including experience with cloud technology that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
- Experience with Amazon Webservices (AgentCore, S3, ECS, etc.) and an understanding of the technical capabilities and limitations when designing solutions in the AWS
- Knowledge across multiple technical domains including compute, database, storage, security, network, configuration management, and application development (source code->deploy)
- In-depth knowledge of the architecture design process, including conceptual, logical, and physical designs.
- Experience in architecting complex systems which address key functional and non-functional requirements (Ex. - high availability within and across availability zones (AZs), disaster recovery (cross region), RTO, RPO, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of cloud computing: virtualization technologies, Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a Service Cloud delivery models and the current competitive landscape
- Thorough understanding of AI Techonlogies including Copilot, Claude, OpenAI and other AI providers as they evolve.
- Familiarity with DevOps concepts, practices, tools and continuous delivery pipelines: Git, Jenkins, Artifactory, XL Release/Deploy, etc.
- Experience in leading complex architectural change programs in a large enterprise
- Strong influencing, facilitation and collaboration skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to tailor communication effectively for a given audience including senior executives
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with additional cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure is a plus

The pay range for this position is $135,375 - $216,600 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
