The Role at a Glance

This position provides leadership, functional expertise and strategic / tactical planning on behalf of Lincoln Financial Investments’ various open-ended and closed-ended mutual fund trusts.  The scope of responsibility may include the following:  


•Financial and regulatory (SEC) reporting
•Board reporting
•Investment valuation of public and private asset classes
•Service provider management / oversight
•Investment trading
•Transfer agency and initiatives such as new mutual fund launches, acquisitions / mergers, closures and restructurings.  


There is substantive coordination and collaboration with internal stakeholders such as the portfolio management, distribution, tax, legal / compliance and Lincoln variable product business lines and external stakeholders such as the fund accounting agent, the custody agent, independent auditors, investment sub-advisors, investment pricing vendors and other 3rd party service providers.

What you'll be doing

•Advises and provides subject matter expertise to management and applicable stakeholders on key financial reporting information and identified trends for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•Anticipates and proactively provides strategies/solutions to complex financial reporting problems or trends for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•Builds organizational capability within his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•Develops and/or manages budget/expenses for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•Directs and evaluates departmental performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•Directs and/or participates in departmental or enterprise wide complex projects assigned by providing stakeholders with actionable and valuable complex financial reporting information to enable decision-making that results in successful outcomes.
•Directs the highly complex analysis and validation of financial reporting to ensure information is sufficient, compliant, accurate and reliable.
•Directs, establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure departmental results for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•Directs/executes approved strategy decisions and contributes to strategy creation for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•Identifies, recommends and implements opportunities to make the highly complex financial reporting processes more efficient and achieve balance of timeliness and precision. Including second level review of financial statements in addition to supporting Investor Relations, Legal and other departments with earnings releases, Proxy statements and other relevant documents.
•Leads and drives continuous improvements of the team capabilities to produce sufficient, accurate and reliable complex financial reporting information to support data driven decision making for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
•Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
•Oversees and develops financial reporting policies and procedures.
•Provide technical accounting support for highly complex enterprise wide transactions and/or key line of business initiatives.
•Provides leadership and direction on complex financial reporting activities and processes, including directing the development of sufficient, accurate and reliable complex information to support data driven decision making
•Provides leadership to a team that provides highly complex financial reporting for management
•Responsible for strategy and execution of monthly and quarterly close processes.
•Responsible for strategy development and execution for the SEC, MAR and/or regulatory reporting processes.

What we’re looking for

Must Haves


•4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) - Minimum Required
•MBA degree and CPA designation preferred;
•10+ Years of direct mutual fund administration experience in roles with increasing levels of accountability / responsibility and span of control (Required). 
•Extensive Fund Accounting background including closed-end funds
•Accounting experience with leverage facilities
•Experience in valuation methodologies of private asset classes
•Board presenting experience

The pay range for this position is $127,500 - $232,300 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
